PROTIP: if you have no spoiler resistance, stand clear.

Some things you don’t announce at the start because of jinx-fear but, for the record:

Surprisingly, I don’t really miss ‘em after neurotically chain-smoking for 15+ years…

With one exception:  the after-dinner one.  God DAMN, I miss you.

See, beyond the occasional glass of really nice whiskey or while on break after a rush at work, cigarettes were more about Pavlovian reward and never really about enjoyment. Out of those 20 smokes in a pack, 19 were used to feed the monkey, a mood stabilizer.  Only one was centered around actual pleasure: and when the workday is done and everything winds down, I regret not being able to have. that. special. one.

Oh yeah, unsurprisingly, I’m 5 kilo heavier now. Ugh.

It’s nice out, though and good thing I like walking and cycling. And I’d rather put on a few and have the newfound energy and stamina to burn it off without feeling winded and hacking up lungbutter.

I am not a genius, and probably neither are you. You might work hard to obtain a medical degree and then spend your professional years administering life-saving vaccines to small (and large!) children, but you wont invent the life-saving vaccine; your vegetarian burger chain might come to dominate…

Read this one all the way through.

Olympus OM-D E-M5 review
Do the 1970s have something to teach 2012 about cameras?

More like the 1950s and 60s, and yes, because those products were well made, repairable and still work in flabbergasting numbers.

Tonal Bride = upper tier music blog.
Quoth Give the Drummer Some:

Beginning in August 2008 and continuing over the course of 28 thrilling monthly installments, an unidentified blogger behind the music-sharing site Tonal Bride posted an impressive collection totaling 170 recordings.
Comprising roots music from all cultures, experimental and avant improvisational sounds, and field records from far and wide, the audio library up for grabs is as stunning an array of free music as you’ll find anywhere on the Internet. (Well, at least until the massive Alan Lomax archive came online last month.) But here’s the kicker—almost every record posted at Tonal Bride is still available almost four years later.
In addition to its wonderful selections, Tonal Bride provides extensive commentary for every single recording. Given the increasing volatility of the free-music blog scene, do yourself a favor and spend an afternoon or two (or three) downloading the entire archive before the site disappears.
